Katie Blackstone
PGCE, PGC Animal Therapies, BSc(hons) DIP Equine Sports Massage
Owner and Practitioner
Katie’s passion for horses began at a young age, enjoying pony club events and showing Welsh D’s at a national level. Brenin (her first welsh cob) is still a valued member of the family and in a full circle event, is now benefiting from regular treatment
Katie and her partner now own 2 horses, ‘Kingsley’ her Welsh x TB low level eventer and ‘Jack’ WB x TB who loves to compete at all levels. Katie also owns 3 Jack Russels, who on occasion you may see them coming around with her (if they promise to behave!)
Katie has worked in professional event and youngstock yards around Cornwall gaining her a wealth of knowledge in working with the equine athlete. Katie began her Psychology BSc (hons) degree in 2014, providing many transferable skills in understanding the animal and working with them holistically.
Katie then began working in the Mental Health Sector with the NHS, providing support and stability to young people. After many years in the field, she discovered her passion for helping others physically and mentally and decided to do so with animals. Alongside her business, she manages teaches Animal Science at her local College.

In 2020 Katie began her soft tissue journey with the leading UK Equine Massage specialist H Tompkins at Animal Therapy Solutions. This in-depth course gained her the anatomical and practical knowledge to successfully set up her own practise. Also allowing her access to the AHPR and ESMA registers.
This was named ‘KLB Equine Sports Massage’, which has since developed into ‘Cornwall Animal Massage’ to allow her future Canine practice to begin.
Katie completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Animal therapy with a First Class Honours, advancing her soft tissue techniques and transferring skills onto dogs.
